The Points Value Guide: What Is Each Loyalty Point Actually Worth?
Definitive cents-per-point valuations for every major loyalty program.
Understanding Cents Per Point (CPP)
Not all points are created equal. A Delta SkyMile is not worth the same as a Hyatt point. The industry standard measure is cents per point (cpp): how many cents of real travel value you get for each point redeemed.
Credit Card Points
- Chase Ultimate Rewards: 2.0 cpp
- Amex Membership Rewards: 2.0 cpp
- Bilt Rewards: 2.0 cpp
- Capital One Miles: 1.85 cpp
- Citi ThankYou Points: 1.8 cpp
- Wells Fargo Rewards: 1.5 cpp
Airline Miles
- Alaska Mileage Plan: 1.8 cpp
- Singapore KrisFlyer: 1.8 cpp
- ANA Mileage Club: 1.5 cpp
- Aeroplan: 1.6 cpp
- British Airways Avios: 1.5 cpp
- United MileagePlus: 1.3 cpp
- Delta SkyMiles: 1.2 cpp
Hotel Points
- World of Hyatt: 2.0 cpp (the best!)
- Marriott Bonvoy: 0.8 cpp
- IHG One Rewards: 0.5 cpp
- Hilton Honors: 0.5 cpp
Key Takeaway
When deciding where to transfer your credit card points, always calculate the effective value. Transferring Chase UR 1:1 to Hyatt gives you 2.0 cpp. Transferring Amex MR 1:2 to Hilton gives you only 0.5 cpp per MR point (since each MR becomes 2 Hilton points at 0.5 cpp each = 1.0 cpp). The Hyatt transfer is clearly better.
